An informal, drop-in open house was held by the Town of Rolesville on May 14th, 2024 to provide information and an opportunity for stakeholder engagement regarding the upcoming Main Street and Young Street intersection closure, part of the ongoing Main Street Improvement Project. Over 80 people dropped in to see what is planned for the intersection closure this summer, as well as for information on progress being made, potential construction-related impacts, other project elements, and the overall project schedule. Designated vehicular and pedestrian detour routes and construction plans were available to view and questions to representatives were answered regarding the project. While it was a stormy day and the power went out several times, a good turnout stopped by for information on the project. The meeting was conducted in two separate sessions, 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM.
The early session kicked off with Community and Economic Development Manager Mical McFarland giving an update on the project from the Town’s perspective. Afterward, RK&K’s Josh Douthit provided an update on the progress of the Main Street Project construction activities and the planned intersection closure. This was followed by those in attendance being able to ask specific questions to project representatives. Attendees at the later session were welcomed to immediately ask questions regarding the project and intersection closure as soon as they arrived.
